Miller and Connecticut Finish 7th Overall

IslandStats.com
Although Peter Miller and his Connecticut University Sailing teammates enjoyed two days of training in 80 degree weather in Boston, it was back into the drysuits to compete in the Boston Dinghy Cup hosted by MIT.

The Boston Dinghy Cup is a Three Division Regatta and for the first time all Three Divisions competed on the water at once. MIT’s brand new Fireflies made their college sailing debut, alongside the usual two fleets of FJ’s. Each Division was scheduled to sail 6 races in each fleet. A Division was selected as the first to compete in the Fireflies.

Miller sailed the Connecticut University C Division boat that finished with two 2nd place finishes and a 1st.

With the results in all three Divisions the Connecticut University team finished the regatta in 7th place.

The BDC was an important measuring stick for the Coed Team to see how their chances are for qualifying for Semis at the New England Championships (hosted on the Charles River).

A 7th place finish is encouraging, but the team knows that the New England’s will be an incredibly hard regatta and will have to continue to work hard in order to have a chance at qualifying.
