Emily Nagel a product of the Bermuda Optimist Sailing Program was a member of the Oakham School Sailing team that won their first tournament of the year.
The result was somewhat surprising to the school as they had only had one sailing session before the tournament and that was mainly based on seeing how people sailed rather than Team Racing tactics.
The 1st team, had not sailed together as a team, sailor Toni Duffy had only sailed the boats once before yet she helmed amazingly around the course. With a few mark traps from both Tristan Ellis and Nagel Oakham managed to win all of the matches in their league and go through to the final.
The 2nd team had never sailed together let alone team race, they were confused to begin with but the chaos was exciting. They did extremely well and came 5th out of 6. They won their last match against a strong Stamford team to come in 5th overall.
The final, was against Uppingham, Nagel and Oakham kept themselves composed to win again to be the overall winners on the day.
