Recently Sean Bouchard and Haley Powell was part of the Roger Williams University Sailing team that competed in the Fowle Trophy hosted by Dartmouth College.
Roger Williams finished in third place at the regatta, the team has now qualified for the ICSA Team Race National Championship.
Roger Williams finished with an overall score of 13 - 6. Cy Thompson, Alec Anderson, Bouchard, Kelly Stannard, Sophie Bellacosa and Powell all saw time on the waters of Lake Mascoma in New Hampshire.
In the first round, Roger Williams went 5 - 0 against the likes of Harvard, Tufts, Dartmouth, MIT, and Vermont to lead them into the Gold Round. The top 8 teams advanced to the next round, leaving four teams to be done with the regatta after the first round. In the first round of Gold Round Roger Williams went 5 - 2, just falling short to Boston College and Yale. In the second Gold Round Robin, Roger Williams finished with a score of 6 - 1, falling to Yale. Roger Williams’ 11 wins were enough to advance them to the Final 6.
In the Final 6 round the team finished with a score of 2 - 3, with wins over Brown and Vermont. The combined efforts of the six sailors landed the team in third place, one win over fourth-place Harvard and enough to qualify for the ICSA Team Race National Championship.
Roger Williams will be traveling to Cascade Locks, Oregon at the end of the month for the 52nd NA Team Racing Champs and the 76th Gill NA Dinghy Champs.
