Cameron Pimentel and his Roger Williams University Sailing teammates had a light but successful time on the water, while winning the Paul C. Staake Trophy.
The regatta honors Staake from Babson College each year for his many years that he held an officer position of NEISA.
The hosts, Roger Williams University, finished on top with an overall score of 10-3. At the regatta, both Boston University and Salve Regina University, who finished second and third respectively, qualified for the Fowle Trophy at Dartmouth.
The Roger Williams members who sailed at the Staake Trophy included Joshua Saltmarsh, George Saunders, Pimentel, Megan Place, Alex Miller and Alyssa Seifert.
The sailors won six of the round robin races and only one loss to Bowdoin. Having the top score after the races, they were placed into the Final Four, including Boston University, Salve Regina University, and University of Rhode Island.
In the Final Four, the Hawks went 2-1 in both of the round robins, tying with Salve Regina. Roger Williams finished the event with ten wins overall and the trophy.
