Nahki Wells’ Bristol City teammate Famara Diédhiou was the super sub as he came off the bench to net a late winner against Blackburn Rovers.
City kept a Wells cross alive through good work from Callum O’Dowda’s knockdown, with the ball turned into Diédhiou’s path via Chris Martin.
O’Dowda and Antoine Semenyo went close in the opening half particularly, and Wells flashed a shot inches wide in the second half, before Diédhiou entered the field and grab the 82nd-minute winner.
The 1-0 win lifts Bristol City up to sixth in the Championship table, level on points (30) with each of the play-off contenders at this stage in the campaign.
WILLIE CLEMONS
Willie Clemons and his Dalkurd teammates faced off against Landskrona in the First Leg of the Superettan Regelation Play-offs in Sweden.
Clemons and his teammates will enter the second leg down 2 – 0, after their defeat away from home.
Landskrona went in front in the 25th minute when Linus Olsson scored, and then in the 51st minute the lead was doubled when Oscar Petersson scored.
Clemons made way for Liridon Selmani in the 84th minute and then things became more difficult for Dalkurd as Arash Motaraghebjafarpour received his second yellow card of the game in stoppage time and will miss the second leg.
