Dale Eve and his Spennymoor teammates ran out convincing 5 – 0 winners against Bridlington Town despite an early red card for Jamie Spencer as pre-season continued.
Spencer claimed an assist for the first goal of the afternoon, whipping a teasing ball across the box which Glen Taylor converted from close range.
But, the midfielder was soon shown a straight red by the referee after an off the ball collision with Bridlington’s number four.
Justin Donawa
Justin Donawa and his Darlington teammates played their second preseason friendly at Rockliffe Park against Middlesbrough Under 23s going down 4 - 2.
Down 1 – 0 at the break, Donawa was introduced. Darlington deservedly leveled on the hour, when Danny Maguire split the Middlesbrough defense for Luke Charman to fire past the keeper scoring Darlington’s first goal in pre-season.
Darlington nearly went ahead on 65 minutes when Hatfield sent sub-Donawa racing through one-on-one, but the keeper got down well to save the striker's low shot.
Middlesbrough went up the other end when Sam Forlain broke into the box and found the bottom corner, then Rumarn Burrell quickly added another.
But Darlington kept going, and Donawa got into the box and set up the second with a trialist beating the keeper from close range for our second.
However, a mix up in the Darlington defense let Burrell in to score the fourth for Middlesbrough.
D’Andre Wainwright
D’Andre Wainwright found the back of the net three times, but he could not prevent Durham City from falling to Willington AFC, 4 – 3.
Wainwright making his debut showed the Durham City manager just what he can produce.
