Nahki Wells and Filip Benkovic scored their first goals for Bristol City as the promotion hopefuls survived a Derby County fightback to earn a thrilling fifth win in six Championship games.
Bristol City’s January recruits starred on a chilly night at Ashton Gate, late first-half headers from Wells and Benković gave Bristol City the advantage at the break.
It was a lead they extended through Famara Diédhiou’s close-range strike as Bristol City looked on course for a comfortable win under the BS3 lights, but Derby soon battled back with two goals in the final half an hour.
Martyn Waghorn grabbed the first with a header, before Chris Martin finished off a Derby counter-attack, with a close-range finish of his own.

Kidderminister made two changes from last week’s Worcestershire Senior Cup Quarter Final against Bewdley to face Alvechurch.
The Semi-Final tie saw J’Nai Butterfield-Steede in the starting lineup, but in the end Alvechurch advanced to the Final with a 3 – 0 win.
