Smith & Kyabram Fire Brigade Fall in Australia

Echuca got its Premiership defense off o the perfect start after earning a 35-run victory over Chare Smith and his Kyabram Fire Brigade Cricket Club teammates in their opening fixture of the new Goulburn Murray Cricket season at the Northern Oval in Australia.

Echuca won the toss and elected to bat, they would score 231/5 in their allotted 45 overs, Matthew Hinks was the top scorer with 80 not out, his runs came off 81 balls, and he hit 5 fours, and 4 sixes, while Paul Newman was the pick of the Kyabram Fire Brigade bowlers with figures of 6-0-29-2, while Smith bowled 9-1-45-1.

In reply Kyabram Fire Brigade was bowled all out for 196, falling short of their target by 35 runs. Newman was the top scorer with 81 off 94 balls, he hit 13 fours, Smith was run out without scoring, and without facing a ball. Brendan Moyle was the pick of the Echuca bowlers returning figures of 9-1-28-3.
