Cup Match or Country as Bermuda set to Compete in Jersey

IslandStats.com
Jersey is on course to host a senior International Cricket Tournament for the first time since 2016 this summer, Island officials have confirmed.

The early qualifying rounds of the 2023 Cricket World Cup are all but set to continue from July 28th – August 10th, with Jersey due to host round three of Challenge League B, featuring group rivals Uganda, Hong Kong, Kenya, Italy, and Bermuda.

The Annual Cup Match Classic is scheduled to be played July 28th and 29th at the Somerset Cricket Club.

It is a widespread secret that has yet to be formally announced by the International Cricket Council, but Jersey Cricket chiefs hold a high level of confidence that they will indeed be welcoming counterparts from all four corners of the globe.

The news follows almost two years of backtracks and uncertainty as a result of the pandemic and offers relief for Jersey’s players and supporters. They had twice been given provisional assurances for hosting duties in 2021, before events were either relocated or delayed further.

Challenge League B round three will be the third tournament in quick succession for Neil MacRae’s senior men, following trips to Uganda and Zimbabwe in June and early July for CLB round two and the 2022 T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, respectively.
