A thrilling Day of Twenty20 cricket saw two Champions crowned in the Bermuda Cricket Board's Premier and First Division T20 Knock-Out competitions at Lord's in St. David's.
St. George’s Cricket Club Crowned Premier Division T20 Knock-Out Champions
St. George’s Cricket Club Won by 30 Runs
St. George’s Cricket Club 179/6 Bailey’s Bay 149/8
The St. George’s Cricket Club successfully defended their Premier Division T20 Knock-Out title, securing a 30-run victory over Bailey’s Bay.
Batting first after winning the toss, St. George's posted a challenging total of 179 for 6. The innings was spearheaded by an explosive knock from Macci Simmons, who was the top scorer with 58 runs off just 26 balls, a remarkable innings featuring 11 fours and 2 sixes. Michael Agard was the pick of the Bailey’s Bay bowlers, claiming 2 wickets for 22 runs from his 4 overs.
In reply, Bailey’s Bay found the target a step too far and were restricted to 149 for 8. Jarryd Richardson was their top scorer with 41. The St. George’s bowling attack was led effectively by Zeko Burgess, who returned impressive figures of 2 wickets for just 20 runs from his 4 overs, helping to seal the victory for his side.

The Southampton Rangers were crowned the First Division T20 Knock-Out Champions after a dominant 116-run victory over Western Stars at the same venue.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Southampton Rangers unleashed a formidable display of power hitting, amassing 190 for 2 in their allotted overs. The innings was built on an unbroken partnership between Dion Stovell and Dalin Richardson. Stovell was the top scorer with an unbeaten 80 runs off 57 balls, featuring 8 fours and 3 sixes. He was brilliantly supported by Richardson, who blasted 69 not out off just 27 balls, an innings highlighted by 1 four and 7 towering sixes. Rohan Davis managed to pick up 1 wicket for 14 runs for Western Stars.
In response, Western Stars struggled against a disciplined Rangers bowling attack and were bowled out for just 74. Brian Hall was the top scorer for Western Stars with 22. The chief destroyer with the ball for the Southampton Rangers was none other than Dion Stovell, who completed a superb all-round performance by taking 3 wickets for a mere 3 runs from just 2.4 overs, including one maiden, to wrap up a comprehensive victory and the championship title for the Rangers.

Devonshire Recreation Club Won by 87 Runs

Devonshire Recreation Club have successfully defended their Central County Cup title, securing an 87-run victory over Western Stars in the final match held at their home ground.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Devonshire Recreation Club posted a total of 211 before being bowled out. The innings was anchored by a well-crafted half-century from Isaiah O'Brien, who scored 50 runs off 63 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes. Western Stars' bowling effort was led impressively by Jahre Blakeney, who was the pick of their bowlers, returning figures of 4 wickets for just 38 runs from 8.1 overs.
In reply, Western Stars found the chase a challenging one and were ultimately bowled out for 124 runs. Phillip Thomas was their top scorer with 25. The decisive blow came from Devonshire Recreation Club's captain, George O’Brien Jr, who delivered a sensational spell with the ball. O'Brien Jr was the standout bowler, claiming an exceptional 6 wickets for a mere 8 runs from just 4.4 overs, including one maiden.

Bermudian Cricketers See Mixed Fortunes in UK and Scotland

Bermuda's cricketers plying their trade overseas experienced a weekend of varied results across leagues in England and Scotland.
In Bristol, Chare Smith and his Frenchay Cricket Club teammates went down by 5 wickets to Knowle CC, Bristol. After being sent in to bat, Frenchay were bowled out for 138, with Max Richards top-scoring with 25 and Smith adding 8 runs. Mohib Ahmadzai was the pick of the Knowle bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for just 8 runs. In reply, Knowle successfully chased the target, scoring 142 for 5. Ahmadzai also led their batting with 32, while Smith took 2 wickets for 43 runs from 7.5 overs for Frenchay.
Meanwhile, in Scotland, Dennico Hollis played a starring role as his The Tryst teammates secured a narrow 2-wicket victory over Renfrew in the Western Championship Two. Playing for the second team at King George V Playing Fields, Hollis contributed with both bat and ball. Renfrew batted first, posting 222 for 9 in their allotted 40 overs, with Guneet Dhaliwal and Hijratullah Omarkhil both scoring half-centuries. Robert Angus took 2 wickets for 22 for The Tryst, with Hollis contributing 1 wicket for 43 runs from his 8 overs. In a tense chase, The Tryst reached their target, scoring 224 for 8. Hollis was the hero with the bat, top-scoring with an unbeaten 65 runs off just 60 balls, an innings that included 5 fours, guiding his team to victory.

In a dominant chase, Bristol West Indian Phoenix CC reached their target with 100 for no loss, led by V Mamgai's unbeaten 51.

Devonshire Rec Bolster Squad for Central County Final

Central County Cup holders Devonshire Recreation Club have announced significant changes to their squad as they prepare for the Second and Final Round match against Western Stars. The highly anticipated clash is set for Saturday, June 28th, at the Devonshire Recreation Club.
Having decisively defeated North Village in the First Round, the champions have brought in five key players, strengthening their ranks for the decisive encounter. Coming into the squad for the final are captain George O’Brien, all-rounders Onias Bascome, and Derrick Brangman, explosive batsman Allan Douglas Jr, and Isaiah O’Brien adding to Kamau Leverock who scored 79, and Ricardo Brangman who scored 73 in their First Round match.
These five experienced additions will replace Ankoma Cannonier, Ajai Daniels, Christopher Daile, Orlando Maulseed, and Trey Tucker from the previous round. The inclusion of these seasoned players, many of whom have represented Bermuda on the international stage and featured in the prestigious Cup Match Classic, signals Devonshire Recreation Club's intent to defend their title with their strongest possible lineup.
In total, the Devonshire Recreation Club team features an impressive seven players with Bermuda National team and Cup Match Classic experience, showcasing the depth and quality they bring to this critical fixture. The match promises to be a thrilling contest as both teams vie for the coveted Central County Cup.

Bermuda Finish Runners-Up in T20 Americas Qualifiers

Bermuda has concluded their campaign in the ICC Men's T20 Americas Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, finishing in a respectable second place on net run rate, level on points with the Cayman Islands with a 3 wins and 3 losses record. While the ultimate goal of World Cup qualification was not achieved, the team showed flashes of strong performance throughout the tournament.
Looking at the individual contributions, Delray Rawlins was the undeniable standout with the bat, leading the team's total scoring with an impressive 200 runs. His consistency was highlighted by two of the biggest individual knocks of the tournament for Bermuda – a formidable 70, and an unbeaten 68. Onias Bascome also made a significant impact with 146 runs to his name, while Tre Manders contributed a valuable 73 runs, including a well-played 69 in one of the crucial matches.
In the bowling department, Bermuda's attack was spearheaded by Dominic Sabir and Derrick Brangman, both of whom claimed 6 wickets each, demonstrating their effectiveness in restricting opposition batsmen. Chare Smith also made a key contribution, picking up a total of 5 wickets throughout the qualifiers.
In the field, Zeko Burgess proved to be the safest pair of hands, holding onto 4 catches. He was supported by Sinclair Smith, Terryn Fray, Onias Bascome, and Delray Rawlins, who each took 2 catches, showcasing the team's all-round commitment in the field.
