Rams Hit Six as U23 Summer League Kicks Off at the Park
|
The Bermuda Football Association’s Under-23 Summer League made a resounding return to Bernard Park, though a highly anticipated double-header was somewhat dampened by an early forfeit. While the opening match failed to materialise on the pitch, the evening session provided more than enough clinical finishing to satisfy the local crowd as one of the island's most storied clubs flexed their offensive muscles.
Robin Hood 3 FC Bascome 0
The scheduled curtain-raiser between Robin Hood and FC Bascome ended before a ball was kicked. FC Bascome forfeited the fixture, a decision that handed Robin Hood an automatic three points and a credited victory to start their campaign.
North Village Rams 6 Devonshire Colts 0
The lack of action in the opener shifted the entire focus to the nightcap, where the North Village Rams delivered a statement of intent with a dominant performance against the Devonshire Colts.
The North Village Rams took some time to break down a resolute Colts defence, but once the deadlock was broken, the floodgates opened. Jakeem Jennings proved to be the protagonist of the first half, finally finding the breakthrough in the 38th minute. Jennings showed his poaching instincts again just before the interval, doubling the lead in the 45th minute to ensure the Rams took a comfortable two-goal cushion into the break.
The second half was a showcase of attacking fluidity as the Rams refused to take their foot off the gas. Norco Furbert extended the lead to three in the 59th minute, and just two minutes later, Jennings' clinical evening was rewarded as he completed his hat-trick with a well-taken strike. Furbert continued to haunt the Colts backline, adding his second and the team's fifth in the 72nd minute. The rout was completed only moments later when Z'dao Dill found the back of the net in the 74th minute to cap off a comprehensive six-nil victory, leaving the North Village Rams at the summit of the early standings.

Zebras & BFLA Dominate Rising Stars Youth Awards
|
The future of Bermudian football took centre stage as the Bermuda Football Association hosted its annual Youth Awards, a glittering celebration of the island’s most promising talent. In a season defined by technical growth and fierce competition, it was the PHC Zebras and the Bascome Futbol Leadership Academy (BFLA) who emerged as the biggest winners, sweeping many of the top individual and team honours.
The Under 13 category saw a near-monopoly from the PHC Zebras Blacks in the Boys’ Division. Julian Caisey was named leading goalkeeper while Amori Simons and Psalm Caines secured the defender and overall Most Valuable Player titles respectively. Their dominance was underscored by the clinical finishing of Azai Burt, who finished as the leading goal scorer with nineteen goals, while Robert Bean was recognised as the top coach. On the Girls’ side, the BFLA enjoyed similar success with Phoenix Williams from the BFLA Blacks and Chloe Burgess from BHS FC taking the goalkeeper and defender awards, while Kiana Simmons topped the scoring charts. Devi Samuels of Warwick Football Academy Independiente was celebrated as the Girls’ Most Valuable Player following a standout campaign, and Leo Burgess from BHS FC was named the Coach of the Year
As the age groups progressed to the Under 15 level, the accolades became more diverse. Somerset Trojans’ Nazhi Reid-Anderson delivered a rare double by claiming both the Defender and Most Valuable Player awards for the Boys, under the guidance of coach Vashun Blanchette. Loyal Outerbridge of X-Roads was named the top Goalkeeper, while Jeon Wolffe of FC Bascome walked away with the Golden Boot after an incredible twenty-four goal season. The Girls’ Under 15 honours were headlined by PHC Lady Zebras Priya Dill who was named the MVP, though Devi Samuels of Warwick Football Academy showed her class by finishing as the leading goal scorer with 7 goals, Kyra Simmons was named the Goalkeeper of the Year, Mirabella Lohan was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Azeem Wolffe from BFLA was the Coach of the Year,
The Under 18 awards highlighted the strength of the Warwick Football Academy programme. Sami Carolo was named the Division’s Most Valuable Player, supported by teammate Curtis Jackson Junior who took the goalkeeper of the year title. Their mentor, Keishon Smith, was rightfully named coach of the year for his strategic leadership. FC Bascome also maintained their presence at the elite youth level, with Zachary McGuire named the top defender and Kydan Browne taking the leading scorer award with six goals in a tightly contested season.
The vital role of officiating was also under the spotlight, with three of the island’s most respected figures recognised for their contributions to the youth game. Lazai Outerbridge took the honours for the Under 13 level, while Malachi Jones was celebrated for his work in the Under 15 Division. The senior youth category saw the experienced Cecoy Robinson named referee of the year, ensuring that the highest standards of fair play were maintained throughout a historic season for Bermuda's next generation.

Double Delight for Salaam as ELSS Secure League & Cup Glory
|
The trophy cabinet at East London Soccer School (ELSS) is looking considerably heavier this week after a dominant 2025/26 campaign culminated in a historic "double" for the Under-16 squad.
Central to that success has been Bermudian midfield maestro Solomon Salaam, who played a pivotal role as ELSS secured both the Echo Junior League title and the Echo Junior Cup.
Based in the heart of East London, ELSS has long been regarded as a powerhouse of grassroots football, renowned for unearthing the capital's finest unsigned talent. While they fell just short of repeating their prestigious London Under-16 Cup triumph of two seasons ago—bowing out in the semi-finals this term—their domestic dominance in the Echo Junior circuits has cemented their reputation as a side that expertly blends technical flair with raw physicality.
Salaam has been the heartbeat of that engine room. A well-rounded operator boasting a rare combination of athleticism and tactical awareness, his versatility became a key asset for the East London side. Whether dictating play from deep, driving forward, or even slotting into central defence to shore up the backline, the former North Village Community Club standout has been a mainstay in the starting XI since moving to the UK in 2023.
The young Bermudian’s development is being further sharpened through the Kinetic Academy programme—a high-performance pathway famous for transitioning elite teenagers into the professional ranks. It is a path well-trodden by his compatriots; fellow Bermudian Sincere Hall utilised the same platform before earning his scholarship and professional terms with Hull City.
Salaam’s pedigree on the international stage suggests he is well-equipped for the step up. A key figure in Bermuda’s youth set-up, he helped the Under-14 National Team reach the finals of the Caribbean Football Union Challenge Series in Trinidad and Tobago, before testing himself against the region's best at the CONCACAF Under-15 Championships in Aruba the following year.
As the curtain falls on a spectacular season in London, the eyes of professional scouts will undoubtedly be fixed on ELSS’s latest crop of talent. For Salaam, two trophies and a reputation as one of the most consistent midfielders in the league provide the perfect springboard for whatever comes next in his promising career.

Redemption for Future Pro as Simmons Inspires Cup Glory
|
The weight of past heartbreak was finally lifted at Accrington Stanley’s Wham Stadium as Jahni Simmons and her Future Pro teammates were crowned the English Colleges Football Association (ECFA) Under 21 National Cup champions.
In a grueling tournament that began with 112 teams from across the country, Future Pro emerged as the last side standing, securing the title in the most dramatic of fashions following a 4-2 penalty shootout victory.
For the West Midlands-based academy, the win marks the end of a long road toward redemption. Having suffered the agony of being losing finalists a year ago, and narrowly missing out on their regional league title on goal difference earlier this season, the pressure to deliver on the national stage was immense.
The final proved to be a test of character as much as technical ability. After falling behind early, it was the Bermudian international Jahni Simmons who provided the game's turning point. With clinical timing, Simmons found the equaliser late in the first half to send the sides into the interval level at 1-1.
A scoreless second half and a tense period of extra time followed, with neither side able to find a decisive breakthrough. However, Future Pro’s resilience—honed by the disappointments of the previous twelve months—shone through in the shootout. They converted four of their spot-kicks while their goalkeeper produced the heroics required to secure a 4-2 win.
"This is more than just a win—it’s a reflection of the culture we’re building," a Future Pro spokesperson said following the trophy presentation. "Across both our men’s and women’s programs, we’re growing, inspiring, and pushing standards higher every single day. To be crowned the best Under 21 team in the country at a venue like Accrington Stanley... special doesn’t even cover it."
The victory solidifies Future Pro's status as a premier hub for developing talent, with Simmons once again proving her worth as a "big game" player on the English collegiate circuit.
