Final Four Set for Under 18 Knockout Showdown

IslandStats.com
The path to youth glory reaches its penultimate stage this Friday, as four of the island’s premier development sides descend on the National Sports Centre for the Bermuda Football Association Under-18 Knockout Semi-Finals.

With two spots at Sunday’s showpiece up for grabs, the North Field is set to host a high-stakes double-header starting on Friday evening. The matches come at a critical juncture in the youth season, following a group stage and quarter-final round defined by narrow margins and shifting momentum.

The opening fixture sees the Warwick Football Academy take on FC Bascome. This clash brings together two programs with a deep-rooted rivalry; notably, Warwick hold the edge in recent encounters after a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Somerset and a gritty 2-1 win against Vasco da Gama. However, Bascome have proven difficult to break down, having earned hard-fought draws against both the North Village Rams and the PHC Zebras.

In the nightcap, the North Village Rams will face the Somerset Trojans. The Rams enter the tie in formidable form, having already dispatched PHC 2-1 and held Bascome to a stalemate. The Trojans, however, will be no pushovers; they secured their semi-final berth with a clinical 3-2 victory over Vasco da Gama and will be desperate to avenge their previous 3-1 loss to Warwick by reaching the final.

The road to the North Field has been anything but straightforward. The competitive parity of this year's cohort is reflected in a series of tightly contested preliminary results:
North Village Rams 1-1 FC Bascome
Somerset Trojans 3-2 Vasco da Gama
North Village Rams 2-1 PHC Zebras
Warwick Football Academy 2-1 Vasco da Gama
PHC Zebras 2-2 FC Bascome
Warwick Football Academy 3-1 Somerset Trojans

For the winners on Friday night, the ultimate prize awaits on Sunday afternoon. The 2026 Under-18 Knockout Final is slated for the Flora Duffy South Field Stadium at the National Sports Centre.

With a 1:30 pm kick-off on Sunday, April 12th, the island's premier stadium will provide the perfect stage for the next generation of Bermudian stars to fight for the first major piece of silverware this spring.

Jimenez at the Double as Hibs Sink Rangers

IslandStats.com
Bermuda international Logan Jimenez produced a clinical late cameo as Hibernian Under 19’s fought back to secure a dramatic 4-2 victory over Rangers, booking their place in the CAS Elite League Cup semi-finals.

In a pulsating encounter at the Rangers Training Centre, Darren McGregor’s side showed immense resilience to overcome a Rangers outfit that twice held the lead. Despite the hosts finding the net through Calum Adamson and Max Cameron, the "wee Hibees" refused to buckle, with Jimenez eventually turning a tense group-stage finale into a celebration for the visitors.

The match remained on a knife-edge after earlier strikes from Callum MacDonald and Josh McDonald had kept Hibs in contention. However, the momentum shifted decisively in the final ten minutes. With the scores locked at 2-2, a Hibs corner was only partially cleared to the edge of the box. Jimenez reacted quickest, turning a goal-bound swipe into a first-time effort that squirmed under the Rangers goalkeeper to hand Hibs their first lead of the afternoon.

The drama intensified in the 86th minute when a stray backpass gifted the visitors a golden opportunity. A swift interception saw the ball squared to Jimenez; though his initial attempt was bravely blocked, the 17-year-old made no mistake with the rebound, calmly slotting into the unguarded net to double his personal tally and seal the result.

The victory sees Hibs advance to the final four of the competition with significant momentum, while Rangers exit at the group stage. For Jimenez, the late double caps a standout performance that underscores his growing importance to McGregor’s attacking options as the hunt for silverware enters its defining phase.

Semi-Final Drama Unfolds in Orlando at International Cup

IslandStats.com
Bermuda’s youth football contingent continued to make waves at the prestigious Easter International Cup in Florida, with the Warwick Football Academy U12s securing a place in the Bronze final following a day of high-stakes knockout action.

The focus at the Omni Resort and Austin Tindall Soccer Complex shifted to the semi-final brackets, where the Warwick U12 side faced a daunting rematch against Orlando City Soccer Club South Pre-MLS. After their previous encounter was halted by a tropical downpour, the Bermudians left nothing to chance in the replay. Warwick produced a clinical and composed performance to claim a comfortable 3-1 victory, a result that books their place in the Bronze final against Coerfontaine FC Premier.

However, it was a contrasting story for the Warwick U15 squad in their Silver semi-final. Having been the tournament’s great entertainers in the group stages, the side found their explosive offense silenced for the first time. Hampered by injuries to key goal-scoring threats, they struggled to replicate the fire-power of their previous eight-goal thriller against GGS Soccer Academy. GGS took full advantage of the depleted ranks, cruising to a 4-0 win to end Warwick’s run. Despite the exit, the U15s depart the tournament with their heads held high, having earned a reputation as one of the most resilient and dangerous attacking units in the division.

On the girls' side of the draw, the group stages reached a tense conclusion on day three. The Warwick U13 girls endured a frustrating afternoon, suffering two narrow defeats. They were first edged out 1-0 by High Soccer Prospects 2013 before falling 2-0 to FC America 2014 Purple. These results mean the academy will now compete in the Silver final on Saturday, where they face a familiar foe in GGS Soccer Academy in what is fast becoming a recurring rivalry at this year's event.

Individual Bermudian prospects also enjoyed success while representing North American academies. In the Male Under 9 White Division, Marcelo Robinson was instrumental for the New England Surf IDA Select NorthEast, helping them to a 2-1 win over Elite Soccer Academy before they narrowly succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Weston FC. Meanwhile, in the Female Under 16/17 Blue Division, Riley Khan helped her Benfica Residential Academy teammates to a gritty 2-1 victory over New England Surf G2009 State Sky.

The successful run for Benfica’s Bermudian contingent continued in the Male Under 16 Blue Silver semi-final. Isaac Todd and his Benfica RA U16 Boys Red side demonstrated superior tactical discipline to dismantle Schulz Academy 3-1. The victory ensures Todd remains in the hunt for silverware as the tournament enters its final, decisive weekend.

Mixed Fortunes for Bermudians in Orlando

IslandStats.com
Bermuda’s rising football stars faced a dual challenge in Florida this week as they battled elite international opposition and a relentless tropical downpour at the Easter International Cup.

The prestigious tournament in Orlando, which attracts top-tier MLS academies and global club programs, was thrown into chaos on the latest day of play as the heavens opened. What began as a series of rain delays eventually led to a total cancellation of the afternoon schedule, leaving several pivotal matches—including Isaac Todd’s high-stakes encounter for the Benfica Residential Academy against El Salvador’s College Cup—undecided on the pitch.

Despite the atmospheric interference, the early action provided plenty of talking points for the travelling Bermudian contingent. In the Male Under 9 White Division, young Marcelo Robinson was at the heart of a tactical stalemate. Representing the New England Surf IDA Select NorthEast 2017 Boys, Robinson helped his side navigate a tense defensive battle to secure a 0-0 draw against a disciplined Benfica side from Futboltech.

The Warwick Football Academy endured a day of contrasting results across their age groups. The Under 12 squad found the going difficult in their White Division clash, succumbing to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of a clinical Miami Futbol Academy. However, the academy's Under 15 side proved to be the day’s great entertainers. They began their session with a professional 2-0 victory over Pinellas County United Elite, showing the kind of technical precision that has become their hallmark.

That defensive solidity was tested to the limit in their second outing of the day, a remarkable eight-goal thriller against GGS Soccer Academy. In a match that swung back and forth until the final whistle, Warwick showed immense grit to claw back a result and finish with a 4-4 draw. It was a performance defined by attacking flair, though coaches will no doubt be looking to tighten the lines before the next round of fixtures—weather permitting.

As the tournament officials look to reschedule the cancelled matches, the Bermudian players remain in high spirits. The experience of testing themselves against the likes of El Salvador’s finest and top Floridian clubs remains a vital benchmark for their development, even if the Sunshine State failed to live up to its name today.

Warwick and Benfica Face Stern Opening Tests in Florida

IslandStats.com
The Warwick Football Academy and Bermudian Isaac Todd have kicked off their campaigns at the prestigious Easter International Cup in Orlando, Florida.

The tournament serves as a high-level proving ground, featuring elite Major League Soccer academies, MLS Next sides, and top-tier US club programs. With international entrants from Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia, and beyond, the competition at the Omni Resort and Austin Tindall Soccer Complex has lived up to its heavyweight billing.

In the Male Under 12 White Division, Warwick Football Academy showed impressive grit to secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the Michigan Jaguars. However, the academy's Under 15 side found themselves on the wrong side of a five-goal thriller in the White Division, narrowly falling to a 3-2 defeat against FD Football Club 2011 NPL.

Elsewhere, Bermudian Isaac Todd faced a grueling double-header representing the Benfica Residential Academy in the Male Under 16 Blue Division. Their opening fixture was a high-scoring affair against Galacticos Soccer Academy U16 MLS, where despite a spirited offensive display, Benfica eventually went down 5-3.

The physical demands of the schedule took their toll in the second match of the day as the Benfica Red team suffered a slender 1-0 loss to Parkland Soccer Club ECNL. Despite the results, the experience of competing at the Omni Resort—a frequent host to professional and national team training camps—provides a vital developmental benchmark for the young Bermudians as they navigate the remainder of the group stages.
