Record-Breaking Daley Leads Toronto to Dominant Victory

IslandStats.com
Bermudian swimmer Elijah Daley delivered a masterclass in the pool, claiming three individual victories and shattering a 24-year-old school record as the University of Toronto men's swimming and diving team comfortably dispatched McMaster University on home waters.

The second-year standout was the star performer inside the Athletic Centre Varsity Pool, orchestrating a virtually flawless meet to steer the Varsity Blues to a comprehensive 85-38 dual meet triumph.

The headline moment of the afternoon came in the men's 50-metre short course breaststroke, where Daley produced a scintillating swim to etch his name into the University of Toronto history books.

Powering off the blocks, Daley stopped the clock in a blistering 28.68 seconds to take top honours. The swim obliterated the long-standing program record of 30.75 seconds, an historic mark that had stood untouched since 2002.

Daley's record-breaking sprint capped off a relentless afternoon of individual supremacy across multiple disciplines.

In the 100-metre individual medley, Daley demonstrated his all-round technical quality by pulling away from the field to touch the wall first in a sharp 55.24 seconds.

He proved equally untouchable over distance in the 150-metre butterfly, producing a commanding, wire-to-wire performance to take victory in one minute 25.10 seconds.

With Daley leading the charge from the front, the Varsity Blues controlled the tempo of the meet from the opening session, leaving McMaster with few answers on their way to sealing a lopsided 47-point team triumph.
