Bermudian head coach Jovan Jordan-Whitter watched his Hampton University men's tennis side deliver an encouraging display at the HBCU National Tennis Championships at the South Fulton Tennis Center in Georgia.
The Pirates compiled a 6-7 overall record across singles competition, with standout performer Rafael Padilha leading the charge.
Padilha produced an impressive individual campaign to finish third in the premier Flight A singles bracket, dropping only one match as he compiled a 3-1 record over the weekend.
Aryan Arora also made a deep tournament run for the Pirates, advancing to the final eight of the Flight B singles division before bowing out in a fiercely contested three-set battle.
In doubles action, Padilha combined effectively with Ibrahim Carrington to provide Hampton's strongest showing of the tournament. The tandem dispatched their opponents in the opening two rounds before their run was eventually halted in the quarter-finals.
