Trinidad & Tobago to Host 2027 RAN Men’s U19 Championship

Trinidad and Tobago has been selected to host the 2027 Rugby Americas North (RAN) Men’s Under-19s XVs tournament, bringing the region's flagship youth competition back to the Caribbean.

The governing body confirmed the tournament will run from July 7th–10th 2027, concluding a successful three-year tenure in Querétaro, Mexico, and paving the way for a potentially expanded field.

Mexican Rugby Federation president Pablo Septien reflected warmly on their hosting cycle, describing it as "a true privilege" that created "a meaningful impact on our rugby community."

The Trinidad and Tobago Rugby Union (TTRU) brings extensive staging pedigree to the championship, having hosted the Under-19s in 2013 and 2014 alongside a run of senior men’s and women’s fixtures and the RAN Sevens from 2024 through 2026.

As RAN's longest-running development pathway, the Under-19 tournament serves as the primary springboard for junior talent advancing into senior international fifteens and sevens setups. Officials believe Trinidad’s geographical proximity to neighboring unions could see the tournament grow significantly—expanding from six nations to as many as ten competing squads.

TTRU president Kanisha Vincent emphasized the event's cultural and athletic weight across the Americas.

"The RAN Men’s U19s XVs Tournament is the cornerstone for the development of young male players within the region," Vincent said. "The passion and determination of all the teams that attend are palpable. The TTRU is eager to create that platform for these young athletes, and we cannot wait to see teams show up and show out in 2027."
