Bermuda’s Kaden Hopkins stayed inside the top 40 overall as compatriot Nicholas Narraway was forced to abandon Stage 5 of the 75th Tour Cycliste International de la Guadeloupe.
The 154km route from Karucoco to Sainte-Anne brought contrasting fates for the Bermudian riders in the Caribbean peloton.
Hopkins, competing for the Atom 6 Bikes - Cycleur de Luxe - Auto Stroo Team, crossed the finish line in 37th position with a time of 3 hours, 35 minutes, and 53 seconds. He ended just 30 seconds behind Belgian stage winner Johan Meens (Aarco Cycling Team).
For Narraway, the stage ended prematurely after he recorded a Did Not Finish (DNF), ending his general classification hopes.
The Bermudian rider will now shift his focus to supporting his team from the feed zones and roadside technical stations for the remainder of the 10-stage race.
Following Stage 5, Hopkins sits 36th in the Grand Championship Qualification standings with a cumulative time of 14 hours, 45 minutes, and 24 seconds.
