Pacers Heading to Russell E Blunt Eastcoast Invitational

This weekend the Bermuda Pacers Track Club will make their 45th appearance at the prestigious Russell E Blunt Eastcoast Invitational Track Meet.

This event will be held over three days from Friday, July 24th, 2026, through to Sunday July 26th, 2026.

It is hosted by the Durham StridersTrack Club and will take place at the Durham Country Memorial stadium. The event attracts athletes from across the east coast and the Caribbean. The team consists of 17 athletes between the ages of 8 and 18. The 17-member team will compete in 40 individual events and one 4x100 metre Relay in the 9-10 Girls Division.

Surii Russell, and Tobiah Goodchild, the senior male athletes on the team, will lead this year’s team. Both athletes competed at the IYC championships in DC this past weekend and plan to improve their performances.

They will compete in the 17-18 Boys’ Division, Russell will compete in the 400 and 800 metres, while Goodchild will compete in the 800 and 1500 metres.

In the 15-16 Girls’ Division, the club will see two promising female athletes Brianna Lightbourne, and Amara Samuel. Samuel is a member of the Bermuda team that competes at the 2026 Carifta Games. Both athletes competed at the IYC Championships in DC this past weekend and plan to improve their performances. Lightbourne, and Samuel will compete in the 100 and 200 metres.

In the 13-14 Girls’ Division, the club will have sprinter Jasmine Reid Rubaine compete in the 100 and 200 metres, while Jump specialist Amaya Davis who also competed in the DC meet will compete in the Long and Triple Jump. Davis plans to go one better and grab a Gold Medal in both Long Jump and Triple Jump. While Rubaine plans to make it to the final and secure a medal in both of her events.

In the 13-14 Boys’ Division, the club will have Jadon Lightbourne one of the most promising sprinters on the island will compete in the 100 and 200 metres. Lightbourne, who was selected as MVP last year in the 11-12 Boys’ Division plans to repeat this performance after his outstanding showing at the IYC last weekend.

First timers Orion Medeiros and Xander Romeo will compete in the 13-14 Boys’ Division. Medeiros will compete in 100 metres, Long Jump and High Jump. Medeiros, who represented Bermuda at the under 13 and under 15 NACAC Age Group Championships last year will attempt to repeat his performance and win the 13-14 Boy’s High Jump. Romeo the BSSF Middle School Over 13 Boy’s Outstanding athlete will compete in the Discus and Shot Putt.

Theo Smith and Nico Simmons will test their skills in the 9-10 Boys’ Division. Smith will compete in the 100, 200 and Long Jump while Simmons will be making his debut appearance at the Russell E.Blunt and compete in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres. Both boys are really excited about competing at the Russell E. Blunt Eastcoast Invitational track meet this year.

In the 9-10 Girls Division, the team will have four outstanding female athletes. BSSF 2026 under 9 Girls outstanding athlete champion Skye Furbert will compete in 100 and 200 metres. Diamond Morris also a 2026 BSSF outstanding female athlete in the under 10 Girl Division will compete in the 800 and Long Jump.

Giselle Reid Rubaine, who competed in the IYC this past weekend will compete in the 100 metres and Long Jump. Twin sisters Bree and Brooke Simmons will complete the 9-10 Girls’ pacers team. They will compete in the 100, 200 and Long Jump respectively. All these girls will make up the Pacers 9-10 girls 4 by 100 metre relay team.

The youngest member of the team is Raelyn Robinson. She will compete in the 8 and Under Girls’Division in the 100, 200 and Long Jump. Raelyn returned home recently after having successful track meets at the 2026 Abu Dubai Youth Championships and the 2026 Flying AngelsInternational Classic.
