Johnny Bart produced a masterclass in scoring at the historic Mid Ocean Club to claim the Bermuda Golf Association’s Monthly Medal, fending off a high-calibre field with a clinical three-under-par 68.
On a day where the challenging coastal layout tested the island's top amateurs, Bart’s aggressive approach paid dividends as he navigated the undulating fairways and slick greens with remarkable composure.
Bart’s round was a masterclass in momentum. The champion carded an impressive six birdies, effectively cancelling out three bogeys to finish the day at 68 (-3). His ability to find the cup on the greens proved to be the difference-maker, as he stayed ahead of Bermuda international Jarryd Dillas.
Dillas, always a formidable competitor, pushed Bart until the final holes with a steady one-under-par 70, while Mikus Ming secured the third spot on the podium after a disciplined even-par round of 71.
In the Ladies Division, Darina Betschart navigated a testing afternoon to claim the title with a round of 81 (+10). Despite the difficulty of the Mid Ocean pins, Betschart managed to card two birdies and seven pars to anchor her winning score.
Alexandra Schaul followed in second place with an 88, while Simona Terceira and Linda Down finished in a dead heat for third after both carding rounds of 90.
The Senior Men’s Division was lit up by Mark Ray, who utilised a spectacular Eagle to pave his way to victory. Ray’s round of 75 (+4) was a blend of brilliance and resilience, featuring ten pars and a birdie alongside the eagle to offset a late double bogey.
Shawn Knight claimed the runner-up spot with an 82, while Bermudian sporting legend Kyle Lightbourne shared third place with Geoffrey Piggott after both carded rounds of 83.
