Bermudian middle-distance standout Dage Minors delivered a gritty double-performance at the historic Iffley Road Track, competing in the 70th-anniversary celebration of Roger Bannister’s sub-four-minute mile.
Representing Bristol and West AC, Minors took his place in a high-caliber field supported by the British Milers Club and Oxford University Athletic Club.
In the marquee Men's Mile, Minors battled through a dense pack to finish 10th, stopping the clock at 4:12.15. The race was a showcase of tactical endurance, held on the very track where the four-minute barrier was famously shattered seven decades ago.
Minors wasn't finished for the evening, returning to the start line for the Men's 1500m. In a physical encounter against some of the region's top specialists, the 29-year-old crossed the line in 11th place with a time of 3:53.46.
The performances mark a solid transition to the track for Minors, who has spent the winter building strength on the road. Following his vital contribution to Bristol and West’s national relay title in Birmingham last month, these efforts at Iffley Road provide a crucial early-season benchmark as he eyes a busy summer of international competition.
