Bermudian standout Cameron Basden and his Barry University teammates wrapped up their regular season schedule this weekend, testing themselves against a high-caliber field at the 2026 East Coast Relays.
The meet, held at the prestigious UNF-Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, served as a critical final tune-up for many programs. For Basden, the focus was firmly on the sand pit as he lined up for a highly competitive Men's Long Jump flight.
In a field featuring several top-tier Division I programs, the freshman recorded a top leap of 6.60m (21 feet 8 inches). The mark earned him 24th place overall, adding another consistent performance to a debut season that has already seen him claim Sunshine State Conference "Sprinter of the Week" honors earlier this spring.
The performance in Jacksonville follows a string of strong results for the Barry University "Bucs." Basden arrived at the East Coast Relays fresh off a successful showing at the Sunshine State Conference Championships in late April, where he secured a sixth-place finish in the 100m.
While the long jump was his primary focus this weekend, Basden’s versatility remains his greatest asset. Having set a personal best of 21.72 in the 200m just last month in Orlando, the young athlete is quickly establishing himself as one of the most reliable multi-event threats in the South Florida region.
