Cyclist Conor White delivered a resilient performance on the opening day of The Peaks 2 Day p/b Velo Edge, navigating a punishing course to secure a top 25 finish in the first stage.
Competing for Jakroo Handsling Racing, White faced a grueling 99.3km route starting and finishing in Warslow. The stage was defined by its relentless terrain, which tested the endurance of a highly competitive field from the outset.
The day belonged to Jenson Young of the Ribble Outliers, who dominated the proceedings to claim the stage victory. Young crossed the line in a blistering 2:34:20, setting a formidable benchmark for the rest of the peloton.
Despite the gap to the frontrunners, White showcased his climbing grit to stay within the main chasing groups. He eventually crossed the line in 22nd place, stopping the clock at 2:37:57. Finishing three minutes and 37 seconds adrift of Young, White’s disciplined ride keeps him in a strong position as the two-day event progresses.
The result serves as another solid indicator of White’s growing comfort competing against elite domestic talent as he continues his spring campaign.
