Conor White has concluded his historic participation in the 2026 Pan American Track Championships in Santiago, Chile, following a final day defined by resilience and narrow escapes.
The Bermudian champion took to the track for the Men's Elimination Race, a high-stakes event where riders are bunched tightly together and the last across the line is removed every two laps. The danger of the discipline was realized almost immediately as a significant crash occurred on the opening lap. Having already sustained a heavy fall in the previous day’s racing, White showed remarkable reflexes to avoid the main pile-up, though he was forced to scrape the wall to maintain his upright position.
Despite the chaotic environment and the inherent risks of the bunch sprint, White’s decision to continue and finish the race proved tactically sound. By completing the event, he secured essential UCI ranking points, which are critical for individual standings and future international qualifications.
The finish brings an end to a landmark week for Bermuda on the world stage. White departs Santiago having established himself as a continental force, headlined by his sensational gold medal in the scratch race and a gritty fourth-place finish in the points race. His performance marks the first time a Bermudian cyclist has stood atop the podium at a major track championship, signaling a bright future for the island’s pioneer of the velodrome.
Bermuda's Nicholas Narraway has successfully navigated a grueling four-day test of endurance and technical skill, concluding his 2026 campaign at the Tucson Bicycle Classic in Arizona. Representing Competitive Edge Racing, the young rider faced the notorious desert heat and a high-caliber North American field to secure a solid set of finishes across the final two stages.
The weekend’s technical highlight came during Stage Three at the Rio Nuevo Tucson Criterium. This challenging 47km course wound through the historic Barrio Viejo neighborhood, demanding constant focus with its tight corners and a decisive 180-degree turnaround. Narraway held his own in the fast-paced peloton, crossing the line in 56th place with a time of 1:09:07. He finished just 30 seconds adrift of stage winner Eric Brunner, who maintained his dominant form to clock in at 1:08:37. The result left Narraway with a combined time of 4 hours, 20 minutes, and 13 seconds heading into the final day.
The final hurdle was the Oro Valley Circuit Race, which returned for 2026 with a refreshed, fan-friendly 2.8-mile (4.5 km) loop. In a frantic dash to the finish, Narraway displayed impressive sprinting legs to finish in 54th place, credited with the same time as the stage winner Benjamin Boroff, who stopped the clock at 57:57.
With the dust settled in Arizona, Narraway completed the Tucson Bicycle Classic with an overall combined time of 5 hours, 18 minutes, and 10 seconds. The performance serves as a vital foundation for the Bermudian international as he continues his 2026 season, building on the momentum of his national championship success from the previous year.
