Madisyn Bobb and her UMBC track and field teammates wrapped up a productive weekend at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational in Lynchburg, Virginia. Competing against a vast field at Liberty University’s Indoor Track Complex, the Bermudian sprinter delivered a consistent performance in the Women’s 200-meter dash open.
Bobb crossed the finish line in a time of 25.26 seconds, securing 18th place in a crowded open division. Her performance added to a series of strong results for the Retrievers as they fine-tune their form ahead of the conference championships.
It was a record-breaking weekend for the UMBC squad elsewhere on the track. Weston Carr stole the headlines by shattering a four-year-old meet record in the 1000m, clocking an America East-leading time of 2:24.46. The women's side also saw podium success, with Lilly Bandy claiming silver in the 200m invite with a personal best of 24.67, while Lyna Beraich earned silver in the 1000m.
In the field events, Winter Evans took gold in the high jump open with a personal best clearance of 1.64m, further highlighting the depth of the UMBC roster.
Following the conclusion of the Liberty event, the Retrievers now turn their full attention to the America East Championships in Boston, scheduled for next weekend.
