This weekend the Bermuda Pacers Track Club will continue to promote their track club’s overseas experiences as they compete in the 14 & Under National Age-Group Invitational in Landover Maryland.

The event, which is an indoor track meet, will be held at Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex. This event attracts over 1400 athletes from across the United States.

The 6-member team consists of all girls between the ages of 9 and 14 who will compete in 16 individual events. This will be the first time the club has competed at this event and it’s the first time the athletes have competed on an indoor track.

The team will be led by 100, Triple Jump and Long Jump specialist Amaya Davis. Davis will compete in 60 metres, 200 metres and Long Jump in the 13-14 Girls’ Division.

Also competing in the 13-14 Girls’ Division are Ava St. Luce and Mylah DeSilva. St. Luce will compete in the 60 and 200 metres while DeSilva will compete in the 200 and 400 metres. Other athletes travelling with the team will be Giselle Reid Rubaine, Diamond Morris and Skye Furbert.

All these young girls will compete in the 9-10 Girls’ Division. Morris, who was just recently crowned BSSF Over 9 Girls Primary School Cross Country Champion, will compete in the 400 metres , 800 metres and Long Jump.

Reid Rubaine will compete in the 60 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres. The youngest member of the team is Furbert, she will compete in the 60 metres , 200 metres, and Long Jump.

Head Coach Cal Simons feels that this new experience will give the athletes more determination once they return home. It will also assist them in their further development. In addition, he expects the athletes to compete at a very high level and enjoy the experience.

Accompanying the team will be Pacers head coach, club official and parents.
