Bermudian FIFA officials Amaury Majors and Clinton Hayward were at the center of a high-stakes afternoon in Guatemala City as the CONCACAF Under-17 Qualifiers reached a dramatic conclusion in Group C.
With World Cup qualification on the line, the island’s top officials were entrusted with pivotal roles at the Estadio Cementos Progreso, overseeing matches that decided the fate of the region's elite youth talents.
The headline performance of the day belonged to Haiti, who secured their place at the FIFA U-17 World Cup for the fourth time following a hard-fought 2–1 victory over group hosts Guatemala.
Bermuda's Clinton Hayward served as an Assistant Referee for the encounter, which ignited in the 7th minute when Sonson Jean-Baptiste headed home from inside the penalty box. While Patrick Arana briefly restored parity for the hosts just four minutes later, Jean-Baptiste proved the hero again in the 22nd minute. His powerful strike from inside the area secured the pivotal win, ensuring Haiti finished at the summit of Group C.
Earlier in the day, Amaury Majors served as the fourth official as Antigua and Barbuda opened their Group C campaign with a narrow 1–0 triumph over Grenada.
The match remained deadlocked until the 58th minute when Deonjre Joseph rose highest to head home a pinpoint free-kick delivery from Robert Jeffrey. The goal was a landmark moment for the Benna Boys, marking their first of the 2026 edition and setting the tone for a competitive group stage.
The presence of Majors and Hayward on the international circuit continues a proud tradition for Bermudian refereeing. Having already officiated various CONCACAF fixtures throughout the 2025/26 cycle, their involvement in these high-pressure qualifiers underscores the high esteem in which the island’s match officials are held by the regional governing body.
