It has been a frustrating evening for Bermuda’s overseas contingent as a relentless wave of wet weather across England forced a raft of postponements, leaving only a handful of players to see competitive action.
From the Southern League to the Isthmian circuit, waterlogged pitches became the recurring theme of the night, stalling the momentum of several key Bermudian internationals.
In the Southern League Premier Division Central, Milan Butterfield and his Halesowen Town teammates saw their clash against Stratford Town fall victim to the elements. A pitch inspection at the Arden Garages Stadium confirmed the surface was unplayable following heavy afternoon rainfall.
The story was much the same for Coleridge Fubler. His Binfield side were forced to call off their Isthmian League encounter with Westfield after the Iconic Stadium pitch was deemed waterlogged during a late afternoon inspection.
In the National League South, Kane Crichlow’s Chelmsford City faced a late disappointment. A constant downpour in the final thirty minutes leading up to kick-off at Hornchurch made conditions impossible, leading to a late postponement for the Clarets. Ajani Burchall also faced a quiet evening, as Wimborne Town’s trip to Tiverton was another casualty of the saturated conditions.
While most were forced inside, Keziah Martin and Justin Donawa were among the few to get boots on the ground as Hereford FC’s National League North fixture against AFC Telford United was given the green light at the SEAH Stadium.
However, it proved to be a difficult night for the Bermudian pair. Despite the grit shown in testing conditions, Hereford struggled to contain a clinical Telford side, eventually falling to a 3-0 defeat.
