Bermudian skier Harriet Williams has enjoyed a standout week in the French Alps, securing two medals while representing Benenden School at the British Schoolgirl’s Ski Races in Flaine.
Competing in one of the most prestigious events on the school skiing calendar, Williams and her teammates proved to be a formidable force across multiple disciplines, showcasing the depth of talent within the Benenden ranks.
The first podium of the week arrived in the Slalom BEST Novice Division. Williams, alongside teammates Lottie Beart and Sophie Drennan, navigated a technical course to secure the Bronze Medal, finishing third overall in a highly competitive field.
The trio's consistency was rewarded again in the Team Awards, specifically the Combined Slalom and Giant Slalom event. Displaying both technical precision and outright speed, the Benenden squad climbed one step higher on the podium to claim the Silver Medal with a second-place finish.
The week almost yielded a perfect hat-trick of medals for the squad during the high-octane Dual Slalom competition. In a grueling event featuring 30 schools from across the United Kingdom, Williams and her teammates progressed deep into the knockout rounds.
However, they were narrowly denied a third podium appearance, finishing fourth overall to just miss out on the bronze. Despite the near-miss, the fourth-place finish in such a large field underscored the school's dominant form throughout the championships.
With two medals in hand, Williams heads back from France having established herself as a key figure in the next generation of Bermudian winter sports talent.
