Bermudian track standouts Arima Turner, Amaris Munya, and Miles Outerbridge delivered a series of high-caliber performances as they represented Montverde Academy at the Legends of Alachua County Invitational. Competing at the Alachua County Sports and Event Center in Gainesville, the Florida-based academy dominated the track, capturing multiple victories and a historic facility record.
The highlight of the meet arrived in the Girls 4x200 Meter Relay, where the quartet of Adriana Rodriguez, Nakira Hudson, Turner, and Dasia Reed powered to a commanding first-place finish.
Their time of 1:36.30 not only secured the Gold but also established a new facility record, marking the fastest time ever recorded at the Gainesville venue.
Turner continued her strong individual form in the sprints, securing a fifth-place finish in a competitive high school girls 200 meter dash with a time of 24.83 seconds. Turner also contested the 60 meter dash earlier in the week at the same venue, where she navigated a deep field to stop the clock in 7.79 seconds.
In the middle-distance events, Amaris Munya displayed her endurance by securing a podium finish in the high school girls 600 meter run. Munya crossed the line in 1:38.94 to take third place overall before returning to the track for the 400 meter dash, where she finished 12th in 59.23 seconds. The junior from Warwick also tested her strength in the one mile run earlier in the season, fighting her way to 15th place in 5:37.07.
The men’s sprints saw a statement performance from Outerbridge in the High School 200 meters. Outerbridge delivered a sizzling performance to secure second place with a time of 21.36 seconds, finishing just behind Brady Pineo in one of the fastest heats of the afternoon. His performance underscored the depth of Bermudian talent currently developing within the Montverde Academy program.
