Madisyn Bobb continued her transition to the collegiate ranks, representing the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) at the prestigious Penn State National Open. Competing inside the PSU Multi-Sport Facility in State College, Pennsylvania, the freshman sprinter delivered a clinical performance in the Women's 200m Dash.
Bobb seized control of Heat 17, crossing the line in a season-best 25.12 seconds to secure the heat victory. In a massive field of over 60 collegiate competitors, the result earned her a respectable 23rd place overall.
The performance places the young Bermudian—following in the footsteps of her Hall of Fame father, David Bobb, and record-breaking sister, Caitlyn—within touching distance of international qualification. Her time of 25.12 was just a fraction outside the Carifta Games qualifying standard of 24.68 seconds for the 200m distance.
UMBC’s focus now shifts to the final stages of the indoor campaign. Bobb is expected to be a key figure for UMBC as they prepare for the America East Indoor Championships in Boston later this month, where she will aim to lower her marks and secure a spot for the spring showpiece in Grenada.
