Update: Match at St. George’s postponed
A severe Gale Warning has forced a major reshuffle of the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) weekend schedule, with several high-profile fixtures falling victim to the storm. With gusts reaching storm force and heavy blustery showers sweeping across the island, league officials were forced to prioritize player safety as conditions at several grounds became unplayable.
In the First Division, both the Somerset Trojans vs. Southampton Rangers clash and the Vasco vs. Somerset Eagles match were postponed. The Trojans and Rangers, will have to wait for a rescheduled date to settle their crucial promotion-defining encounter.
The Premier Division was also hit hard, with the scheduled meeting between the Dandy Town Hornets and Paget Lions at White Hill Field called off. The Hornets, currently sitting in second place and chasing league leaders Devonshire Colts, missed the chance to close the gap as the ground was deemed unplayable.
Despite the widespread disruptions, the Wellington Oval in St. George’s remains the hub of activity. Due to its slightly more sheltered location from the wind direction, officials have given the green light for the scheduled double-header to proceed, albeit in challenging conditions.
The match between Young Men Social Club and the Devonshire Cougars will also go ahead at 3:00 pm at the Police Field.
