Bermudian freshman Norre Robinson continued his transition into the American collegiate circuit, representing Louisiana Tech at the high-caliber LSU Bayou Bengal Indoor Track Meet in Baton Rouge. Competing at the Carl Maddox Field House, Robinson lined up in a deep field for the Men's 60m preliminaries, testing himself against some of the region's premier sprint programs.
Robinson delivered a solid performance in the qualifying heats, crossing the finish line in a time of 7.03 seconds. The effort earned him a 22nd-place finish overall in a massive field of competitors, missing out on a spot in the final during a session that showcased the exceptional depth of talent currently residing in the South Central Region.
The performance marks a marginal improvement on his collegiate debut, where he clocked 7.04 seconds at the Arkansas Invitational just one week prior. Robinson’s consistency near the seven-second barrier provides a strong foundation for the remainder of his freshman campaign as he looks to shave vital fractions off his personal best.
While the Bermudian didn't advance to the final, his Louisiana Tech teammate Madonna Favour helped lead the charge for the Bulldogs, finishing third overall in the final with a personal best of 6.75 seconds. Robinson and the Louisiana Tech squad will now turn their attention to a busy February schedule, with elite meets in Fayetteville and Lynchburg looming as key targets for the young sprinter.
