Montverde Academy sprinters Miles Outerbridge and Arima Turner made an immediate impact as the VA Indoor Showcase got underway in Virginia Beach.
On a day of high-caliber competition at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, both athletes underlined their credentials with dominant performances in their respective opening rounds to signal their intent for the remainder of the meet.
Miles Outerbridge produced the standout performance of the afternoon in the Boys' adidas 200m Qualifier. Competing in the eleventh heat, the Montverde senior delivered a clinical display of indoor sprinting to take the win in a blistering 21.34.
The time was not only enough to secure his heat victory but also placed him at the summit of the overall standings. No other competitor in the field could match his pace, leaving Outerbridge as the man to beat heading into the later stages of the competition.
Success for Montverde continued in the Girls' 55m Prelims, where Arima Turner secured her passage to the next round with a controlled victory.
Running in Heat 7, Turner stopped the clock in 7.19 to comfortably claim first place in her race. Her performance was one of the sharpest of the session, earning her the second-fastest time overall across a crowded preliminary field.
The duo's performances have set a high bar for the Florida-based academy as they look to build momentum across the weekend in Virginia.
