A frantic double-header at the PCC Hockey Rink saw 17 goals fly into the nets as the Bermuda Ball Hockey Winter League continued its high-scoring start to the new year.
League leaders Positive Image Dental solidified their position at the summit with a clinical 7-4 victory over BDA Spirits, while CG ground out a hard-fought win in the evening’s second fixture.
Positive Image Dental 7 BDA Spirits 4
In a rollercoaster opening contest, Positive Image Dental relied on the clinical finishing of Louis Sujir, who netted a vital hat-trick to put the game beyond reach.
The match ignited in a four-goal opening period. Jeffrey Ingelman and Israel Guzman provided the BDA Spirits with an early spark, but responses from Jordan Gunter and Brett Williamson ensured the scores remained level heading into the first break.
The Dental team seized control in the second frame through Sujir and Gunter, before pulling away in a dominant final period. Despite Guzman completing an impressive personal haul for the Spirits, further strikes from Ross Rufiange and Sujir’s second and third of the night sealed a three-point haul for the frontrunners.
Alexandra Mosher 2 CG 4
The night’s second fixture was a tighter, more tactical affair as CG secured a 4-2 win over Alexandra Mosher.
Following a cagey, scoreless opening period, the game burst into life in the second. Brett Shirreffs put Mosher ahead, only for Andrew Leavy to level the scores for CG just before the siren.
The final frame belonged to CG. Jeremy Estey proved the difference-maker, finding the net twice in the period. While Mike Brennan kept Mosher within touching distance, a late strike from Jeff Morash ensured CG walked away with the points in a result that keeps them firmly in the mid-table hunt.
