Trojans Pull Clear as Village Rally to Sink Cougars

The title race in Bermuda’s First Division took a significant turn as the Somerset Trojans extended their lead at the summit with a hard-fought victory over Wolves at Bernard Park.

The league leaders were forced to be patient against a disciplined sixth-placed Wolves side that had frustrated them for much of the evening.

After a scoreless first half defined by missed opportunities, the breakthrough finally arrived in the 78th minute. Kymani McNeil proved to be the hero for the Trojans, finding the back of the net to secure a 1-0 win and a vital three-point cushion over second-placed Robin Hood.

Premier Division

North Village Rams 2 Devonshire Cougars 1

The drama continued in the Premier Division as fourth-placed North Village Rams reignited their top-four ambitions with a 2-1 comeback victory over Devonshire Cougars.

The Cougars had initially looked set to spoil the party at Bernard Park when they took the lead in the 19th minute. A clinical ball over the top allowed Domico Coddington to hold off his marker before firing past the goalkeeper to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage at the interval.

However, the Rams emerged with renewed intent in the second half. They drew level in the 55th minute when Seke Spence rose highest to head home a pinpoint cross from inside the area. The turnaround was completed eleven minutes from time as London Steede finished a fluent team move, getting on the end of another cross to slot the ball home and secure all three points for the hosts.

The result leaves North Village firmly in the hunt for the podium spots, while the Cougars will reflect on a missed opportunity to climb above their rivals in the standings.
