The Devonshire Colts have dominated the first presentation of the season’s individual honors, with Ray Jones and Senoj Mitchell sweeping the Bacardi/Islandstats October Monthly Awards.
Ibou Barry made the inaugural presentation of the Bacardi-sponsored Coach of the Month and Player of the Month awards following a stellar opening period for the Police Field outfit.
Jones was named the October Coach of the Month after guiding the Colts through an exceptional run that saw them firmly established in the Premier Division title hunt. Jones’ tactical discipline has been a hallmark of the Colts’ resurgence this season, with the side demonstrating a level of consistency that has seen them remain within a single point of the league leaders heading into the winter break.
Despite the accolades, the veteran coach has remained typically grounded, frequently demanding even higher standards from his players even following crucial victories.
The October Player of the Month award was handed to livewire forward Senoj Mitchell, whose goal-scoring exploits catapulted the Colts to the top of the table early in the campaign.
Mitchell’s standout moment of the month came with a clinical hat-trick against X-Roads Warriors, a performance that highlighted his composure and finishing ability. His form has remained relentless throughout the autumn; he most recently secured a vital three points for his side with a brace in a seven-goal thriller against Young Men’s Social Club, taking his tally even higher as the title race intensifies.
