The North Village Rams secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over the PHC Zebras in their Friendship Preliminary match at the PHC Stadium, with the winner coming deep into stoppage time to send the Rams through to the next round.
The North Village Rams took the initiative in the first half, breaking the deadlock in the 33rd minute with a goal from Jalen Harvey, giving them a narrow 1-0 lead to take into the break.
The second half delivered high drama and a flurry of goals. Chance Eve drew the PHC Zebras level in the 66th minute, scoring from close range to make it 1-1. The Rams quickly responded, with Jordan Outerbridge putting North Village ahead again in the 80th minute.
Just when it looked as if the Rams had secured the victory, the PHC Zebras found a moment of brilliance. Jaylon Bather weaved his way through a host of North Village Rams defenders and scored from an angle to draw the Zebras level once more in the 89th minute.
With fans bracing themselves for extra time, the match took one final dramatic turn. Five minutes into stoppage time, Jonte Smith put the North Village Rams ahead for the third time, scoring the decisive goal to secure the thrilling 3-2 win.
The North Village Rams now advance to the Quarter-Final, where they will face the winner of Wednesday night's Friendship Preliminary match between the St. George’s Colts and the Paget Lions.
