Senoj Mitchell IslandStats.com Seven rounds into the season, the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) league tables are beginning to separate the title contenders from the chasing packs, with intense battles for supremacy at the top of both the Premier and First Divisions, mirrored by competitive races for the coveted Golden Boot award.
Premier Division: Hornets Lead Tight Five-Way Battle
The Premier Division remains highly contested, with the Dandy Town Hornets currently leading the charge, sitting at the summit with 13 points accumulated from seven games. The remainder of the top five is incredibly congested: the North Village Rams, PHC Zebras, and X-Road’s are all closely trailing on 12 points from seven games. The Devonshire Colts are also on 12 points, having played one game less (six games total), positioning the top of the league for a thrilling multi-way title race.
The race for the Golden Boot in the top flight is equally tight, featuring a two-way tie among the early scoring leaders. Senoj Mitchell of the Devonshire Colts and Donovan Thompson of X-Road’s share the overall lead with 6 goals each. Just behind them are David Jones from the Dandy Town Hornets and Chae Brangman from the Devonshire Cougars, both of whom have netted 5 goals. A chasing group featuring Jonte Smith (North Village Rams), Zeiko Lewis (Social Club), Paul Simons (X-Road's), Elisha Darrell (Devonshire Colts), and Clay Darrell (Young Men Social Club) are all currently on 4 goals.
First Division: Trojans and Robin Hood Neck-and-Neck
In the First Division, the Somerset Trojans have been joined on 12 points at the top of the standings by Robin Hood. The Trojans remain the only undefeated team in the division and hold a valuable game in hand on Robin Hood. The chase pack remains tightly bunched, promising an exciting run-in, with the Somerset Eagles, Southampton Rangers, and Wolves all tied on six points apiece, battling for position in the middle of the table.
The early Golden Boot race in the First Division continues to be thoroughly dominated by veteran talent. Keishen Bean of Robin Hood has stormed ahead of the field with a blistering 11 goals. The massive gap between the top scorer and the rest of the league is clear, as the chasing pack consists of 10 players who all have two goals each, further emphasizing Bean's exceptional start to the season.
