Bermuda’s Walking Football team concluded their UK tour by competing in an indoor tournament, finishing their campaign strongly with a draw followed by a defeat and then a victory.
They finished their UK tour on a high note, winning their final game of a round robin event of 12-minute, the 6-a-side games against three teams from Brunswick Community Centre.
The indoor tournament provided the final competitive outing for the Bermudian squad, who had spent their tour adjusting to various challenges, including different field conditions and opponents utilizing unconventional, fast-paced tactics.
In the indoor format, the team found their stride, putting together a solid run of results that saw them achieve a draw in their first match, followed by back-to-back wins in their final two contests.
This positive conclusion brings an end to a valuable tour that forced the players to adapt and showcase their resilience against English competition. The experience gained from facing established teams and overcoming logistical hurdles will be crucial for the continued development of walking football in Bermuda.
Khomeini Talbot was voted MVP of the event while goalkeeper Gordon Stewart was voted team’s MVP by the other teams.
