It was two days of high drama and mixed fortunes for Bermuda's footballers across the English cup and league fixtures, highlighted by a staggering seven-goal thriller in the FA Cup and a local derby win.
Nahki Wells was the central figure in a chaotic FA Cup Second Round tie where his Luton Town side narrowly edged out National League side Forest Green, 4-3, thanks to an injury-time winner.
The Hatters seemed to be cruising after goals from Wells (two) and Lamine Fanne put Jack Wilshere’s side 3-0 up. However, the spirited Rovers, managed by Robbie Savage, stormed back, scoring three times in an incredible 18-minute spell to sensationally level the contest. Just as extra time loomed, substitute Gideon Kodua struck an injury-time winner to seal Luton’s dramatic place in the next round. Wells' brace proved vital in securing the win.
Elsewhere in the Emirates FA Cup action:
Nathan Trott and his Cardiff City teammates traveled to the Weston Homes Stadium to face Peterborough United today but bowed out of the competition, falling 1-0.
Deniche Hill, Keziah Martin, and their Buxton United FC teammates battled Chatham Town in the first round of the cup. The contest ended in a 1-1 draw, meaning the two sides will require a replay to determine which team advances.
Justin Donawa and his Brackley Town teammates faced off against Notts County FC in their Emirates FA Cup first round tie, after the two teams finished deadlocked at 2 - 2, Brackley Town advanced 5 - 4 on kicks from the penalty mark.
In league action, the focus was on the performance of the island's midfielders and goalkeepers:
Milan Butterfield and his Halesowen Town side hosted Reggie Lambe and Needham Market at the Grove in Southern League Premier Central action. Butterfield delivered an outstanding performance and was deservedly named the Man of the Match in Halesowen’s 2-0 win over Lambe's side.
Goalkeeper Dale Eve, on dual registration with Coleshill Town from Stratford Town FC, turned out for Coleshill in their Northern Premier League match against Sutton Coldfield Town FC and recorded a shutout in a crucial 1-0 victory.
Willie Clemons and his Leiston FC teammates traveled to face Bromsgrove Sporting in their Southern League 1 Central Premier match, unfortunately falling 2-1.
Roger Lee and his Heanor Town teammates took on Clay Cross Town Football Club in a United Counties Premier Division North battle and went down to a heavy 4-1 defeat.
Coleridge Fubler, Reese Jones Jr, Razhir Smith-Jones, and Aunde Todd (on the bench) were all involved as Binfield FC took on Egham Town at Hill Farm Lane in their Isthmian Football League battle, falling by the narrow margin of 1-0.
Harry Twite returned to the Loughborough Students FC team for their fixture against St Neots Town FC, which ended in a scoreless draw.
