Bermuda Overseas Footballers Round-Up

IslandStats.com
AFC Bournemouth Women secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Oxford United at the Vitality Stadium, advancing their progress in a crucial competition. The win keeps Bournemouth’s momentum going in the early stages of the season.

The match followed a weekend performance where Bermudian midfielder Kenni Thompson proved pivotal, firing her side into the last 16 of the FA Women’s National League Cup. Her two goals over the weekend, including a calmly converted penalty, were instrumental.

Speaking about her mindset from the spot, Thompson revealed the secret to her success is simply keeping a level head under pressure.

“There was a little bit of time before winning the penalty and taking it. It was keeping my head straight to be calm and put it away,” Thompson told the official club website. “Penalties can be tough, both on the taker and the keeper’s part. It was just a case of keeping calm and composed with a clear focus on hitting the ball right.”

Thompson and her teammates successfully negotiated their latest test against Oxford United to claim the 2-1 win.

Elsewhere in the UK domestic cup competitions, Camryn Lines and her Bridgwater United Women FC teammates have clinched a spot in the Second Round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup after surviving a nerve-shredding fixture. The team learned their reward for progressing is a home tie against Royston Town, scheduled for Sunday, November 23, 2025.

The draws for the men's cup competitions also provided clarity for several Bermudian players.

In the Isuzuuk FA Trophy, Jutorre Burgess and his Harborough Town FC teammates were drawn at home against Enfield Town in the Second Round Proper.

Meanwhile, a local derby is set for the Suffolk Premier Cup Quarter-Final. The date has been confirmed for the tie between Reggie Lambe’s Needham Market FC and Willie Clemons’ Leiston FC. Lambe’s side will travel to face Clemons’ Leiston on Tuesday, December 9th, setting up a highly anticipated clash between the Bermudian countrymen.

Finally, in the women's leagues, Keunna Dill, Trinae Edwards and their FC United of Manchester Women's teammates delivered a comprehensive 7-1 victory over local rivals Bury. Edwards, who is being sponsored this season by Anne Sherwin, got her name on the scoresheet in the 27th minute, finishing off what was described as "unbelievable FC United of Manchester play."
