Bermudian professional boxer Dash Simmons successfully extended his undefeated record in spectacular fashion, claiming a Technical Knockout (TKO) victory over Mexican opponent Francisco Rios in the third round of their international light heavyweight bout in Baja California.
Simmons, known for his relentless pressure, controlled the fight from the start primarily using his powerful jab, forcing Rios to lunge aggressively to try and land scoring blows.
The breakthrough came midway through the third round when Simmons landed a devastating left hand that sent Rios to the canvas. While Rios managed to get up and was allowed to continue after a standing eight count, Simmons immediately pressed his advantage. Landing a barrage of big, clean shots, Simmons was deemed too strong by the referee, who stepped in to stop the contest and award the Bermudian the TKO win.
Adrian Roach finally saw action in Mexicali, overcoming a dramatic wait to secure a victory over his Mexican opponent, Victor Emmanuel López, with the decision going to the judges.
Roach was originally due to fight early on the card but showing immense focus and professionalism, Roach would later compete after the main event against López.
The bout was a hard-fought contest, with Roach displaying his aggression and power by twice putting López down with well-placed body shots. Despite the knockdown efforts, the fight went the distance. In the end, the judges unanimously awarded the victory to Roach.
The win, marks a significant moment for Roach’s early professional career, showcasing his ability to compete and secure victory on international soil. His impressive performance follows a TKO win for fellow Bermudian Dash Simmons on the same card.
The double success marks another positive international outing for Bermuda's boxing talent, with Simmons maintaining his perfect professional record.
