Paralympic athlete Jessica Lewis has secured her second top-five finish in as many days at the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, demonstrating consistent pace in the women's T53 wheelchair sprints.
Lewis took to the track for the T53 Women’s 400m Final and crossed the line in fifth place, recording a time of 59.91 seconds. This marks the second time in a row that the four-time Paralympian has completed the 400-metre distance under the one-minute mark at a major international meet.
The race was utterly dominated by Switzerland’s Catherine Debrunner, who is currently in sensational form. Debrunner claimed yet another gold medal, setting a blistering competition record time of 50.58 seconds. She successfully held off strong competition from the two Chinese powerhouses and the field, adding to her growing collection of major titles.
Lewis’s two consecutive fifth-place finishes at the Championships underscore her sustained competitiveness at the elite level of para athletics.
