Trott Secures Another Shutout as Cardiff Clinch Win at Wigan

IslandStats.com
Nathan Trott delivered another commanding performance for Cardiff City, recording a vital clean sheet as the Bluebirds defeated Wigan Athletic 2-0 at the Brick Community Stadium.

The League One promotion chasers bounced back from their first league defeat of the season, thanks to goals from Perry Ng and a late penalty strike from Yousef Salech. Ng opened the scoring in the 17th minute with his first goal of the season. The Bluebirds then held off significant second-half pressure from the hosts, with Trott remaining composed in goal behind a resilient defence.

The win was sealed deep into stoppage time when substitute Salech converted a penalty in the 96th minute, capping off another impressive defensive display led by Trott, who is widely regarded as the league's best shot-stopper.

It was a busy day for Bermudian footballers across the English leagues and in the Emirates FA Cup:

Nahki Wells helped his Luton Town teammates edge past Doncaster Rovers 1-0 at Kenilworth Road in their League One fixture, securing a crucial three points. Just before the break the Town were awarded a penalty after Wells was taken out by a reckless challenge by Sterry. Wells then stepped up to take the spot kick, but he was denied by an exceptional save by Ian Lawlor in the Rovers’ goal, high into the top right corner.
Reggie Lambe ensured his Needham Market side advanced in the FA Cup, defeating Witham Town 2-1 at the Bloomfields Stadium in their Third Qualifying Round match.
Deniche Hill and Keziah Martin also tasted FA Cup success, as their Buxton FC side advanced to the Fourth Round with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Marine Football Club.
Ne-Jai Tucker guided his Southport United team into the Fourth Round of the FA Cup following a 3-1 win over Morpeth Town.
Milan Butterfield will have to wait for progression in the Cup, as his Halesowen Town teammates were held to a goalless draw by Aveley, necessitating a replay on Monday.
In league action, Harry Twite and Loughborough Students FC claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Coventry Sphinx in NPL Midlands Division One.

However, several Bermudian players faced defeat away from home:

Willie Clemons and his Leiston FC side bowed out of the FA Cup, falling 3-0 to Banbury United FC.
Justin Donawa's Brackley Town went down 1-0 on the road against Solihull Moors.
Coleridge Fubler Jr., Reese Jones Jr., and Aunde Todd's Binfield suffered a 3-2 defeat to Hendon FC in the Isthmian League.
Roger Lee and Heanor Town FC lost 3-2 to Grantham Town.
