A crucial win for Khano Smith's Rhode Island FC and positive results for Bermudian women's players in the UK have been overshadowed by a serious medical incident in the NWSL.
Racing Louisville midfielder Savannah DeMelo was stretchered off the field after collapsing during the first half of her side's match against Mia Fishel's Seattle Reign. DeMelo, who was reported to be "stable and alert" after being transported to a local hospital, had sat down on the pitch before appearing unresponsive. The match was subsequently abandoned with the score at 0-0 and will be replayed at a later date.
In the USL Championship, head coach Smith's Rhode Island FC secured a vital 1-0 victory over Indy Eleven. The win, courtesy of a second-half own goal, extended the team's impressive home form, with six clean sheets in their last seven games at Centreville Bank Stadium. The result moves RIFC back above the playoff line in the Eastern Conference with just six regular-season games remaining.
In England, goalkeeping coach Dashun Cooper's QPR Women’s team registered a 2-0 FA Women's National League win over Chesham United. Kenni Thompson's Bournemouth Women's team continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-0 victory over Gwalia United. Thompson was a key figure, with her free-kick leading to the opening goal and a later shot hitting the post.
Young Bermudian striker Jahni Simmons made a winning debut for Coventry Sphinx Ladies, coming off the bench in their 3-2 victory against Hednesford United Women in the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division.
Elsewhere, a late penalty saw Camryn Lines' Bridgwater United Women held to a 1-1 draw with Maidenhead Utd. Keunna Dill and her FC United of Manchester Women teammates went down 3-0 to AFC Fylde in the North West Women’s Regional League, while Jasmine Spence was on the scoresheet once again, netting a goal in Newport Pagnell Town Women's dominant 8-0 home win against Netherton United.
In the NWSL, Leilanni Nesbeth was an unused substitute as her Chicago Stars teammates drew 1-1 with Portland Thorns.
