The Dudley Eve Trophy Group A provided a double-header of close-fought action at the Devonshire Recreation Club, with Dandy Town Hornets and North Village Rams both clinching victories.
Dandy Town Hornets 2 Paget Lions 1
In the opening match, the Dandy Town Hornets held on to defeat Paget Lions 2-1. Dandy Town took control early, with goals from Yeferson Ramirez in the 14th minute and Quadir Maynard in the 37th giving them a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Hornets thought they had a third, but it was ruled offside, a decision that proved crucial as the Paget Lions found a late spark. Michael Tyler Emery pulled a goal back for the Lions in the 83rd minute, but they couldn't find an equaliser, and Dandy Town held on for their second win in the group.
Boulevard Blazers 1 North Village Rams 2
In the nightcap, North Village Rams came from behind to edge Boulevard Blazers with a 2-1 victory. Boulevard took the lead in the 34th minute through Ernest Trott, but their advantage was short-lived. Just three minutes later, Jordan Outerbridge equalised for the North Village Rams, and the teams went into the break level at 1-1.
With the game seemingly headed for a draw, Torque Outerbridge had the final say, scoring what proved to be the winning goal for the North Village Rams to secure a hard-fought win.
