Wells Scores as Bermuda's UK Contingent Has a Mixed Day

IslandStats.com
Bermudian players had a busy day across the UK, with goals, cup drama, and hard-fought draws. The headlines belong to striker Nahki Wells, who netted his first goal for Luton Town.

In a thrilling match celebrating 120 years of Kenilworth Road, Wells came off the bench at halftime against Plymouth with the score at 2–2. Just four minutes later, he confidently stepped up to the spot and drilled a penalty hard and low into the bottom corner. Despite his heroics, Luton Town ultimately fell 3–2.

It was a productive day for Keziah Martin and Deniche Hill, who both came on as substitutes to help Buxton FC secure a comfortable 3–0 win over Redditch United in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round. The victory sees them advance to the next round.

Elsewhere in the FA Cup, Willie Clemons was on the scoresheet for Leiston FC. He sealed a dominant 4–1 win over Hackney Wick, turning in a cross in first-half stoppage time to make it 4–0. His side also progresses to the next round.

Meanwhile, Milan Butterfield and Halesowen Town will have to do it all over again after a 1–1 draw against Grimsby Borough. They'll face off in a replay on Tuesday night. Justin Donawa and his Brackley Town teammates also ended their FA Cup clash with a stalemate, drawing 0–0 with Hartlepool United.

Nathan Trott continued his undefeated start with Cardiff City, earning a hard-fought 1–1 draw on the road against Stockport. The result extends their unbeaten run and keeps them in good form.

In the Northern Premier League, Harry Twite and his Loughborough University FC teammates battled to a 2–2 draw with Rugby Town at Loughborough University Stadium, with the points shared.

Several other Bermudian players were on the bench this weekend. Ne-Jai Tucker was an unused substitute for Southport United in their 1–1 FA Cup draw against Radcliffe, with a replay scheduled for Tuesday. Kane Crichlow watched from the sidelines as Sutton United went down 3–2 to Tamworth. Finally, Jutorre Burgess and Reggie Lambe were both unused substitutes as their teams, Harborough Town FC and Needham Market respectively, advanced in the FA Cup with 3–2 and 4–2 wins.
