A spirited first-half comeback from Bermuda was ultimately not enough as they fell 3 - 2 to Curaçao in their second CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier at Ergilio Hato Stadium. The match marks the first time the two teams have met in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier. The last and only previous encounter was in the 1978 Central American and Caribbean Games, where Bermuda won 4-0.
Curaçao came out of the blocks firing, with Tahith Chong scoring in the 14th minute after Bermuda goalkeeper Dale Eve made a save that rebounded to the penalty spot. Chong doubled his team's lead in the 26th minute, leaving Bermuda with a mountain to climb.
Bermuda showed incredible resilience to pull themselves back into the match. Kane Crichlow got on the end of a Ne-Jai Tucker cross in the 35th minute to make it 2-1. A defense-splitting pass in the 42nd minute found Djair Parfitt, who raced in on goal and beat Curaçao keeper Eloy Room to level the match at 2 - 2.
The two teams went into the halftime break with the score deadlocked, but Curaçao, who had 58% of the possession, regained the lead in the 75th minute when substitute Tyrese Noslin squeezed the ball home from close range. Bermuda battled for the next 15 minutes but was unable to find the equalizer.
