St. George’s Cricket Club head coach Clay Smith is applauding his team for their impressive accomplishments during the 2025 cricket season. The team overcame the loss of several key players to new clubs to finish the season as Knock-Out Cup champions.
Speaking to www.islandstats.com, Smith said, “We lost the services of several players before the season started, and we had to work with the new players and teach them the philosophy of St. George’s, and I think they did well."
The coach highlighted the leadership of the new skipper, Sinclair Smith, who took over from Onias Bascome at the start of the season. "We had a new skipper, and he led his team well," Smith said. "To finish the season winning the Knock-Out Cup just made the season a success.”
The victory came in a rain-affected final against St. David's Cricket Club. In a match reduced to 35 overs, St. David's posted 186 for 9, but after another rain delay, St. George's were set a revised target of 134 in 25 overs, a chase they successfully completed to lift the trophy.
