A dominant half-century from Okera Bascome and a superb five-wicket haul from Arun Singh Kalsi propelled Coventry & North Warwickshire to a 40-run victory over Shifnal Cricket Club in their Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League Premier Division Two match.
After being sent in to bat by Shifnal, Coventry & North Warwickshire was bowled out for 193. The innings was anchored by Bermudian Okera Bascome, who was the top scorer with a blistering 57 from just 43 balls, an innings that included three fours and five sixes. Shifnal's bowling attack was led by Usman Bari, who returned impressive figures of 3 for 28 from his ten overs.
In reply, Shifnal struggled to build partnerships against a disciplined Coventry bowling attack and were eventually bowled out for 153. Charlie Home was their top scorer with 33, but the star of the show was Coventry's Arun Singh Kalsi, who tore through the opposition lineup to finish with a fantastic five-wicket haul for 38 runs. Bascome also contributed in the field, holding on to one catch and completing a stumping to cap off a great all-around performance for the Bermudian. The win is a crucial one for Coventry as they continue their league campaign.
