A thrilling night of football on a rain soaked BAA Field saw the Dudley Eve Group A double-header deliver two fiercely contested matches. Both games were decided by a single goal, with Boulevard Blazers and Dandy Town Hornets emerging with hard-fought victories.
Paget Lions 2 Boulevard Blazers 3
In the opener, the Boulevard Blazers edged the Paget Lions 3-2 in a back-and-forth encounter. Darius Cox gave the Blazers the lead early, scoring in the third minute with a right-footed blast from an angle. Boulevard took that 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
The second half saw a flurry of goals. Delray Rawlins equalized for Paget in the 75th minute, but Jahzion Talbot-Thomas put the Blazers back in front just five minutes later. Cox then scored his second goal of the game in the 87th minute to make it 3-1, a score that seemed to put the game out of reach. However, Kushae Hypolite pulled one back for Paget in the 88th minute, but they ran out of time looking for the equalizer.
Dandy Town Hornets 1 North Village Rams 0
In the nightcap, the Dandy Town Hornets edged the North Village Rams 1-0 in a repeat of their Charity Shield clash. This is the second time in a week that the Hornets have defeated the Rams.
The lone goal of the game came in the fifth minute when Riley Robinson controlled the ball in the box and curled a right-footed shot into the back of the net. The Hornets were forced to defend their lead with ten men after Eusebio Blankendal was sent off in the 63rd minute for his second yellow card.
Despite being a man down, Dandy Town stayed organized and claimed the victory, continuing their dominant start to the season against their fierce rivals.
