Bermuda's Under-14 Girls' team has been knocked out of the CFU U14 Challenge Series, suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to the Dominican Republic in their Tier 1 Semi-Final at the Ato Bolden Stadium in Trinidad.
The young Bermuda team faced a tough challenge from the outset, with the Dominican Republic dominating the first half and creating several scoring opportunities. However, a determined Bermudian defense, led by goalkeeper Sydney Denkins, held firm, and the two teams went into the break with the score level at 0-0.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 48th minute. Following a scramble in the penalty area, Bermuda failed to clear the ball, allowing a Dominican Republic player to unleash a powerful shot into the roof of the net, giving her side the decisive 1-0 lead.
The Dominican Republic continued to apply pressure, but Denkins, who was later named player of the match, along with her resilient backline, was able to hold them off. Despite their solid defensive effort, Bermuda was unable to find an equaliser, and the match ended in a 1-0 defeat.
